BlueStacks has recently released its Windows 8 optimized App Player, allowing new Surface Pro users to access a whopping 750,000 Android apps on their devices. The Windows 8 update is an improvement upon the previous Windows 7 version as users will now have the option of a true full screen mode and easy access from the Windows 8 start screen. The release is particularly timely considering Microsoft's reports of a lightning fast sellout of Surface Pro tablets, despite a rather underwhelmed consumer response to the Windows 8 OS.
A common complaint about devices running Microsoft's latest OS was the paltry availability of apps in the Windows 8 store. BlueStacks will see the number of apps available to Windows 8 users swell from a mere 30,000 to 750,000, vastly opening up the Surface experience to new users. According to BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma, "The Surface Pro is an innovative device, but it has none of the top apps. This fixes that and adds a lot of value for buyers."
With a Windows 8 optimized App Player and over 5 million downloads across both Mac and PC platforms under its belt, BlueStacks is showing no signs of losing its momentum. According to Tech Crunch, the company has been in talks with HP and Dell about importing Android apps to their devices and has recently struck similar deals with Asus, Lenovo, AMD, and MSI that will see BlueStack's software preloaded on upwards of 100 million PCs in 2013.
