SONY last night unveiled its new challenger to the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy a mobile that works UNDERWATER.
The Xperia Z "superphone" is leak-proof in up to a metre of water for half an hour.
It means it can take pictures underwater or even be used in the shower making it perfect for those who can't bear to be parted from their devices.
The super-slim mobile's high-definition five-inch screen and 13 megapixel camera all beat the iPhone, Galaxy, Nokia Lumia and HTC One. It has a superfast computer and works on the new 4G mobile web network.
And it's being tipped as the first smartphone suitable for BUILDERS, thanks to its dust and shatter-proof case and screen.
But there are limits to its uses. A Sony insider said: "While technically you can use it to make calls underwater I'm not sure how much you'd be able to say or hear. It's really to let users keep the phone safe around water."
The Xperia Z, launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, will hit UK stores in March. It will cost around £450.

I HAD the first hands-on demo of the Xperia Z. The five-inch screen IS striking and light and thin too.
This phone could finally see Sony match its success with TVs and laptops. The main obstacle is Apple fans' iPhone loyalty and Samsung's latest Galaxy, due in February.
