Samsung Galaxy S4 tipped to feature 'unbreakable screen' - Know Your Mobile (blog)

Samsung's Galaxy S4, which is scheduled to get an official release date sometime in Q2 2013, will apparently feature the world's first unbreakable OLED display.

That's quite a USP in and of itself. And while it does sound slightly odd in the cold light of day, it's worth remembering that Samsung is currently leading the field in this type of display creation.

'And, as smartphones increasingly look alike an unbreakable screen could be a big selling point for the Galaxy, which is battling Apple's iPhone to lead the $200 billion plus smartphone market,' reports Reuters.

Samsung's Galaxy S4 is expected to have a larger 5-inch 1080p display that'll pack in an eye-wateringly high pixel density of 441ppi. It's also expected to feature a 13-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, NFC, and Android Key Lime Pie – although the latter's inclusion depends entirely on Google's release schedule.

So when will the Samsung Galaxy S4 get a release date?

'Looking to the first half of 2013, we see evidence of Samsung likely accelerating the release of the Galaxy S IV - compared with May (this year) for the Galaxy S III, said UBS analyst Nicolas Gaudois, speaking to Reuters.

He added: 'we believe preparations for volume manufacturing of unbreakable plastic substrate displays continue. All in all, we could see a strong products push in the high-end in the first half, followed by other releases.'

So, as it stands we're looking at a potential Q1 launch with a release date sometime in Q2 for the Galaxy S4, perhaps even as early as May.

More news as we get it.
