A THIEF targeted a major Microsoft complex over Christmas – but made off instead with iPads made by rival tech giant Apple.
The burglar broke into the research facility – understood to contain Xboxes, Windows Phones and Surface tablets made by Bill Gates's firm – and swiped almost £2,000 worth of Apple gear.
Two iPad 2s, two iPad 3s and one iPad 4 disappeared during the raid near San Francisco, California between December 19 and December 26.
Local Police Sgt. Sean Thompson said there was no sign of a forced entry and a suspect is yet to be found.
The Apple products, with a total price tag of around $3,000 (£1,870), were swiped from three offices in Microsoft Building 5.
Microsoft's Mountain View campus, which was closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, is a research facility where new products are tested for security flaws.
