A leading global bank is looking to hire a Unix/Linux technical specialist/SME to deliver and support products, applications and services within the Unix/Linux environment. This environment includes a number of Unix/Linux flavours including HP UX & Veritas, AIX/LINUX, CFS Solaris/AIX, Veritas, HACMP etc. so a broad technical skill set is ideal and will allow the specialist to get involved in a range of projects and support activities. The specialist will be a Subject Matter Expert for Supporting Unix/Linux technologies so will also have the opportunity to get involved in identifying new opportunity to improve technical processes and services, whilst also minimising risks for the Bank.

Ideal Experiences/Responsibilities:

  • Broad technical knowledge across range of Unix/Linux flavours/technologies, including but not limited to; HPUX, Veritas, IBM AIX, HACMP, Solaris and Red Hat.
  • Mid-High level Unix/Linux troubleshooting and incident/problem management and ability to work with other members of service team to provide solutions.
  • Delivery of projects, products and services within Unix/Linux environment
  • Good knowledge of standards and policies associated with Unix/Linux technologies and services within an enterprise environment. Appreciation of large scale service delivery models.

This role does not require previous banking experience, a broad technical skill set with breadth and depth across Unix/Linux technologies is far more important. The team are a very effective working unit and have some good banter, so this role is a unique opportunity to build a career in a multi dimensional role within Banking.
