THE WINDOWS PHONE 8 POWERED HTC Windows Phone 8X went on sale today on the O2 network, on both pay monthly and pay as you go tariffs.
O2 is selling the HTC Windows Phone 8X in its trademark blue colour, and is offering the phone for free on a £32 a month contract, which comes with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and a 500MB data allowance. Alternatively, buyers can opt for a more expensive £36 a month tariff, which includes unlimited minutes and texts and a more generous 1GB of data.
The mobile operator is also selling the phone on pay as you go, for those who don't fancy being tied to a lengthy two-year contract. It has priced the smartphone at £379.99 when bought with the usual £10 top up. Not a fan of O2? The HTC Windows Phone 8X will soon be available from Phones 4U for £31 a month.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X scored highly in our review, thanks to its quirky design, great 4.3in HD screen and its impressive 8MP camera. We also found Windows Phone 8 a huge improvement over Windows Phone 7, albeit still lacking in applications.
The handset also features a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, wide-lens 2.1MP front-facing camera, integrated Beats Audio technology, 16GB of internal storage and a 2,100mAh battery, although its longevity disappointed during our hands-on tests. ยต
