Sony has confirmed the Xperia Z1F - a miniature version of its popular Z1 smartphone.
A day after the phone was leaked in Japanese network DoMoCo's magazine, Sony announced that it will be released in December.
The Xperia Z1F (also known as the Xperia Z1 Mini) will only be available in Japan for the time being.
The phone departs from smaller smartphones produced by rivals HTC and Samsung.
Rather than just being a watered down phone, the Xperia Z1 Mini will be almost as powerful as its big brother.
Its spec sheet is very similar to the full size Z1, with a quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, NFC, Qi-wireless charging and a 2300mAh battery.
The only major difference is the obviously smaller 4.3-inch 720p display.
Sony announced that it will be available in four colours: lime, black, white and pink.
It will come with Android 4.2 with customisations by Sony.
Not all details have been revealed yet - we do not yet know the camera specs - the most impressive aspect of the Z1 - or the price of the phone.
