BlackBerry Messenger for iPhone and Android to be released 'within days' - Mirror.co.uk

Phone giant BlackBerry has confirmed that it will release BlackBerry Messenger for Android and iOS phones in the next few days.

BlackBerry chief marketing officer Frank Boulben said the much-anticipated messaging app will be available on Android and Apple devices "within days".

The app was pulled from both platforms last month.

This was after an older, unofficial version of the app appeared on the Google Play store, which caused problems for those using the official app.

Boulben said that he is "confident" that issues have been solved after the false start last month

BlackBerry first announced that it would be bringing the messaging service to Android and iOS devices earlier this year, but has yet to follow up on the promise.

It was followed by rumours that BBM may also be coming out on Windows Phone 8, but this has not been confirmed by either BlackBerry or Microsoft.
