The 32GB edition of the Google Nexus 7 will launch this week in the UK according to a source with links to Argos.
The 16GB version of the Google Nexus 7 is about to be replaced with a more generous 32GB edition. Talking to a source with "close links" to the retailer Argos, ITProPortal writes that the 32GB Nexus 7 will arrive later this week in the company's Christmas Gift Guide and will replace the current 16GB model, selling for £199.99.
Google's lower-cost 8GB Nexus 7 may stay on shelves. However, as the 16GB edition has reportedly proved much more popular, upping the top storage to 32GB won't help the entry-level model's sales figures at all.
The 16GB Nexus 7 is available from some retailers at present for £10 off its standard retail price, but it is not enough of a saving to justify opting for the soon-to-be-axed version. As the tablet does not have a memory card slot, you're stuck with whatever internal storage you start of with.
Google partnered with Asus to produce the Google Nexus 7, with an incredibly quick turnaround from sketchy product idea to the final thing in just four months. Three months after the low-cost tablet was launched, it became the best-selling Android tablet in the UK, outselling the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Upping the storage capacity of the 32GB edition should help give the Google 7 a healthy Christmas sales boost. Most important from a strategic perspective, the new 32GB model means the Google tablet competes directly with the Kindle Fire HD, which is set to launch in the UK next week.

The Kindle Fire HD sells for £199.99 for the 32GB edition with "special offers" - adverts that appear on the tablet's lock screen. Without ads, It costs £209.99, giving the 32GB Google Nexus 7 a slight pricing edge.
