FINNISH PHONE FIRM Nokia announced the entry level Nokia Lumia 510 smartphone today, which runs Microsoft's Windows Phone 7.5 mobile operating system.
Offering customers a cheaper alternative to the Windows Phone 8 powered Nokia Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 smartphones, the Nokia Lumia 510 sports a 4in 480x800 touchscreen and has a meagre 800MHz Snapdragon processor and 256MB of RAM.
Still, for those after an affordable Windows Phone it's not all that bad, as the Lumia 510 also features a 5MP rear-facing camera, 4GB of internal storage, 7GB of free Microsoft Skydrive cloud storage and a 1,300mAh battery. Once released, it will also be available in a number of colours including black, white, yellow, pink and blue.
While the phone is nothing special, Nokia seems impressed with itself. Jo Harlow, EVP of Nokia Smart Devices said, "With the Nokia Lumia 510 we continue to meet our commitment to bring Windows Phone to new, lower price points."
"People who use Windows Phone quickly realize how much more intuitive it is than other smartphone platforms, and Nokia Lumia is the best embodiment of the Windows Phone experience. With the Nokia Lumia 510 we're looking forward to welcoming more people into the Windows Phone experience."
There are no details on pricing yet, but Nokia told The INQUIRER that the phone will be available in India and China from next month. It was unable to say whether it will release the Lumia 510 in the UK. ยต
