HTC Butterfly quietly announced: Droid DNA goes globalWe've scribbled a fair bit about the HTC J Butterfly (Japan) aka the HTC Droid DNA (US) aka the HTC Deluxe, though the most recent whispers suggested the beastly 5in handset mightn't make it to the UK at all.

Well, those fears have been largely allayed, as a GSM version called the HTC Butterfly has popped up on HTC's global site. Awesome.

The strange thing here is that the US-only HTC Droid DNA was largely heralded as the best thing the Taiwanese had churned out in ages – with only the lack of microSD threatening to ruin the party.

The HTC Butterfly adds a microSD slot (sah-weet), though it's appeared with little to no fanfare. There doesn't even appear to be a press release. Zuh?

In any case, HTC Butterfly specs include a 5in display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz, and 16GB internal storage (augmentable via microSD – as I was saying).

Other HTC Butterfly specs include a meaty 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front webcam, and 2020mAh battery.

HTC Butterfly price will of course be crucial. We'll bring you more on that just as soon as we find out. Similarly, there's no official HTC Butterfly UK release date just yet, but we'll be keeping one ear pointed firmly in HTC's direction. Stay tooned…
