New Nexus 7 to arrive at Staples next week, on sale July 31 - Geek

A recent rumor that Staples will be a launch partner for the new Nexus 7 has been confirmed, leaving everything but the actual announcement of the hardware left to go.

Google's Sundar Pichai is hosting a press event early next week, and it is highly anticipated that the meeting will be to announce the next iteration of Android and a new piece of hardware to go along with it. The new Nexus 7 has been heavily leaked and teased, leaving many with the expectation that Google will be updating their 7-inch tablet alongside Android 4.3. The new Nexus 7, as it is apparently being called, has been seen with a rear camera and wireless charging among other exciting new features. If you're ready to put your hands on this new tablet before spending the $229 on it, Staples appears to be where you want to head.

A leaked document from a Staples internal memo system is pointing towards July 26 as the day demo units for the Nexus 7 refresh will be put on display, followed by a retail date of July 31st. The document doesn't list hardware specifications, but clearly points to this being a device with "superior specs all the way around" with strict instructions not to sell the device before the embargoed sales date.

It's hard to imagine Pichai and crew not pulling this new tablet out to show off at the press event next week, complete with a new version of Android designed to optimize the wireless radio experience on Android as well as some new multi-user features specifically for tablets. At that $229 price point, it looks like the Nexus 7 refresh is going to be exactly what the mid-range tablet users of the world are looking for.
