If you were one of the early adopters who already purchased a new Windows Phone 8 device, you might have noticed something missing: a Spotify app.
The popular streaming music app, which was previously available in the Marketplace for devices running Windows Phone 7, is no longer showing up, according to a report on WPCentral. But don't fret, music-loving Windows Phone fans. Spotify has confirmed that a version of its app for Windows Phone 8 is on the way.
"I can confirm that we are working on it," a Spotify spokesman said in an email. The spokesman could not say exactly when the app would be released, however.
In the meantime, you can get your music fix through the Xbox Music or Rdio app. Also, though the Spotify app is not currently snowing up in the web-based version of the store, it is reportedly still available when searching from a Windows Phone 7 device.
Meanwhile, Spotify isn't the only popular music app that seems to be missing on Windows Phone 8. Apps like Slacker, TuneIn, and the podcast app 8Tracks have all be unavailable on the new HTC Windows Phone 8X lately, according to a report from tech blog ReadWrite.
"The reason we're not in the Marketplace right now for W8 is because the ingestion engine hasn't completed making all WP7 apps available on W8," TuneIn's director of marketing Ryan Polivka told ReadWrite. "Apparently this should be resolved within a few days."
In more positive Windows Phone 8 app news, Skype has released an early preview version of its VoIP app for Microsoft's new mobile operating system.
