Tablet sales will grow to 283m units a year by 2016 from 122m units this year and 172m units next year, reports IDC.
The analysts point to growing popularity of Android tablets from Samsung, Google, Amazon and others which, it reckons, will see the market share of Android-based tablets reach 43% this year compared to Apple's 54%.
