A senior management reshuffle at IBM has led to the departure of European channel partner boss David Cornick. He will now take up a position within Big Blue distributor Tech Data as managing executive for the gigantic vendor's product lines.

As a result, David Kay, formerly sales veep at IBM UK and was effectively second in command for the operation, has replaced Cornick as the vice-president of Business Partners and Mid-Market for Europe.

IBM confirmed the moves to The Channel, adding that Cornick will employ his "vast knowledge of IBM's channel in the newly created role of IBM Managing Executive for Tech Data".

Cornick started as director of ibm.com sales for Europe in April 1998, became veep of that unit in 2002 and then headed the European biz partners and mid-market operation in September 2005.

In other moves, IBM UK boss Stephen Leonard will become GM for the Global Markets, Systems and Technology Group. David Stokes, GM for Central and Eastern Europe, will replace him. ®
